Emotional maturity is not about staying non-reactive or calm in the face of conflict. We are all human and constantly at affect to our environments. It is about however, what you ask yourself when things get hard. When your partner is upset, when they keep pointing to the same thing, the first question is not how do I defend myself. It is: where might they be right? Where might what they are pointing at have merit? What are they seeing that I might not? This shift in curiosity and self reflectivity has the power to change everything. Because when our partner's see us self-reflecting, they immediately feel seen and safe. The second point of reflection is: what is behind or beneath my patterns and behaviors? Take the lens of self-reflectivity and place it to the source of your pattern. Why do I get reactive? Why am I always late? What am I defending against? This is where humility can become your greatest ally. And the third: can I lean in vs ejecting or collapsing into fear? Because emotional maturity is not the absence of fear. It is curiosity in the face of it. If you love somebody, you want to know their experience of you. Why wouldn't you? That is not weakness. That is growth. That is what it looks like to stay present, grounded and self-reflective in a difficult moment. 💬 Which of these three is hardest for you right now? #EmotionalMaturity #ConsciousRelationship #RelationalLeadership
