The great lie we tell ourselves is that our capacity to love is dependent on other people's behavior. This belief is a the heart of almost every failed relationship. Because you are basing your capacity to love on what you are, or are not getting from the other person, you are enslaved by their behavior. You can only love when they’re "behaving the way you want". When they "understand you". When they "meet your expectations". Love is not something your partner earns. Love is an energy that exists always. It is not a bargaining tool. It is what calls us deeper into relating. I'm not talking about enabling or co-dependance. Love can be expressed through heart-centered anger, anguish and grief. Sometimes that is the most potent form of love. People will be unconscious in all kind of ways, in all types of situation. Most of our partner's are unskilled, not abusive or purposefully hurtful. Our capacity to decide to love is what amplifies the field of love. This doesn't mean bypassing your needs, or accepting behaviors that are abusive. If your partner is in a moment of unconsciousness, love will wake them up and evoke the best they have to offer. And when you choose to love, even when you’re not getting exactly what you want, your perception shifts. Your body chemistry changes. You come out of fight or flight and become the North Star the moment needs. From this elevated perspective, you can see them differently. You invoke the capacity to respond differently. This is how we change stubborn relational dynamics. By becoming the love the moment needs vs expecting the other person to behave differently. #ConsciousLove #EmotionalMastery #SacredRelationship
